20+ Years in Media & Communications

Most communications teams split this job across four or five people. I've spent 20-plus years doing all of it myself, inside two of Canada's biggest media companies, on Windsor City Council, and as Chair of the Windsor Public Library Board.

About

Over 20-plus years with Bell Media and Rogers, Canada's two largest media companies, plus a term on Windsor City Council, I've built the kind of range most communications people don't: I write the release, brief the reporter, shoot and edit the video, run the podcast, build the website, and design the graphic, all without handing any of it off.

I've built paid social campaigns with click-through rates more than double the industry standard, helped guide a $9.1 million public institution through leadership transitions, and directed a $100,000 community investment fund.

What I Do

Full-service communications, run by one person

Most organizations split this role across a team. Here's what I cover solo.

Full-Service Production

Press releases, media relations, social, video, audio, podcasts, web, and graphic design. Most people hand off two or three of these. I run all of them myself.

Stakeholder & Labor Communications

Shaped staffing and service messaging for a $9.1 million public institution serving 489,000-plus annual branch visits, working directly with union-represented staff.

Crisis & Issues Management

Primary point of contact for 26,000 residents on issues under active media and public scrutiny, most resolved in 24 to 48 hours.

Digital Campaigns & Analytics

Paid social campaigns hit click-through rates of 2.4 to 3.8 percent, more than double industry benchmarks, on daily budgets as low as $14.

Public & Media Relations

20-plus years in radio and broadcast media, including 13 years building a cross-border Windsor-Detroit brand to #1 with Men 25-44 and roughly 18 percent year-over-year revenue growth, spanning Bell Media and Rogers, with earlier stops at Blackburn, MBS Radio, and Stingray.

Message Development & Writing

Turn dense budget, policy, and governance material into plain language for boards, media, and the public.

Track Record

Two decades across broadcast, civic leadership, and industry
